Bacardi has many a loyal Patron. Cool, says DesmondJi, swigs another shot of India’s tequila market.

“To-Kill-ya” is infamous for its hangover, but is nevertheless a choice of poison in the West. For a country that takes pride in sipping expensive single malts and the smoothest of gins, India is slowly warming up to the Mexican spirit. Global biggies have taken note. Bacardi acquired fine-tequila maker Patron last year to grow in India, but the country’s only tequila manufacturer sees no reason to worry.
