Why opt for selective pollution control at thermal plants: INR13,000 crore saved and more efficiency

Considering the massive cost of implementing new technology, it would make sense to phase out plants that have few years of life remaining. Further, some of the older plants, even if they were to be retrofitted, would offer lower emissions efficiency.
