1 Correspondent ET Prime

We move forward when we realise how resilient and striking the women around us are. I couldn't agree more with Rupi Kaur on this. I completed my bachelors in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College before joining ET Prime as a correspondent. In my free time, I'd be found playing trivia quizzes or reading non-fiction. I love learning new languages,French,Russian,Japanese being the ones I picked up while in school and college. Working for NGOs is really close to my heart. Debating society took most of my time in the final year, and put me in a position where I am always willing to engage. For now content with learning Guitar and Spanish after office.

Strategy

YouTube crafts a new strategy, expands into more categories. Can it make it work?

YouTube for the longest time has been the de facto destination for DIY video content and has a giant global footprint. India is a big market and is now at the centre of the platform’s global march to test the waters in new business categories, including subscriptions and original content. Can it make the journey from user-generated content to brand-generated content, taking on the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime?

Ed-tech

Unacademy has scored an A grade in valuations. Can it now ace the subscription test with Plus?

Unacademy has seen a meteoric rise both in terms of valuations and market presence. It now wants to expand with the launch of Plus, a subscription model, and build a paid-user base with strong engagement metrics. However, despite the ease of use and promises to make the best teachers available online, the path to building and sustaining a paid model has been slippery for most players. Can the Bengaluru-based ed-tech startup buck that trend?

Regulation

“The horse has gone out of the barn door”: TRAI’s OTT regulation consultation needs a radical rethink

The question of telcos suffering economic loss in the face of an OTT onslaught is no longer relevant. Regulating OTT players now involves an entirely different conversation. The two key issues: making OTT platforms give up their much-vaunted encryption, if needed, for national security, and the spectre of OTT players having to cough up new taxes. Light-touch regulation is the choice of all stakeholders of TRAI’s consultation process.
